Abstract: Mr.Wei Jichang has rich literary history writings,which mostly are lecture notes for university lectures,which were not published during his lifetime.The Zi’an Collected Works was published and was able to be introduced to the public.There are several types of works in the literary history circle,including Lectures on Chinese Classical Literature,Literature of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,A Brief History of the Development of Chinese Poetry,and Fu of the Han,Wei,and Six Dynasties.This article mainly focuses on Lectures on Chinese Classical Literature and explores the characteristics of literary history written by Mr.Wei Jichang.His generalization of the connotation of Chinese literature is in line with the characteristics of Chinese style,and he discusses that Chinese literature returns to its true nature by eliminating the false and retaining the true,reflecting the scholarly style of that generation based on practical learning.The emphasis placed on folk literature in his evaluation of literature from previous dynasties not only accepted his teacher Hu Shi’s literary history view,but also was influenced by the trend of the times.Due to its deep foundation in classical learning,it is able to be practical,realistic,and thorough when analyzing writers’ works in detail.
