Literature as an Endless Intervention ——On Liu Darens Left-wing Modernist Writing

Abstract: From the perspective of the integration of left-wing and modernism,this paper combs the origin of creation and ideology and literary history of Liu Daren,an overseas left-wing writer,and considers the far-reaching influence of modernist literary thoughts and overseas students Baodiao Movement on his literary life.Liu Darens novel Floating Community,which describes the spiritual situation of Taiwans young intellectuals in the 1960s,contains the characteristics of a Bildungsroman of Song of Youth.The excavation of the undercurrent of left-wing thoughts in the 1950s-1960s has the historical significance of the eras fable.In addition,the parallel reading of the short story Qie Lin Shi Guo and Lu Xuns In the Restaurant reveals the similarities and differences between the two in dealing with the problem of revolutionary memory,as well as Liu Darens inheritance and development of the “Lu Xun Left-wing” tradition.
