Abstract: The screen crane paintings left in several tombs in the Song and Yuan Dynasties were originated from the “screen crane painting with six fans”by Tang Xueji,mainly depicting the “six crane painting”of Huang Quan during the Five Dynasties period.The richness of crane paintings in tombs reflects the evolution of the“six crane painting”during the Song and Yuan dynasties.The popularity of crane paintings in tombs during the Song and Yuan dynasties,as well as the creation of various “six crane paintings”,are products of the influence of the culture and funeral concepts of the era of emphasizing Taoism.In the murals of the tomb chamber,the “six crane painting”is regarded as a kind of auspiciousness and birth of immortals.Through the screen crane painting and related spatial construction,it embodies the tomb owners idea of ascending to immortality and rebirth.
