College Faculty-student Relationship:Concept, Characteristics and Dimensions

Abstract: College faculty-student relationship is the most basic and important relationship in higher education.Exploring its concepts,characteristics and dimensions is actually a response to three questions:“what it is”“how to identify it” and “how to evaluate it”.Essentially,college faculty-student relationship is a kind of existence of force,which is the mutual influence and force formed between faculty and college students.The higher education relationship between university teachers and college students based on knowledge is the college faculty-student relationship,which has the characteristics of education,independence,freedom,creativity and spirit.It has two major observation dimensions:communication and knowledge.Communication is the precondition and determinant of its existence.Knowledge is its motivation and important goal.The ideal form of college faculty-student relationship should be a good combination of close communication and equal power knowledge activities.
