The Version Origin and Documentary Value of Zhou Dunyis Anthologies in Past Dynasties

Abstract: The compilation of Zhou Dunyis anthologies started in the Southern Song Dynasty,and formed three series of anthologies,monographs and complete compilation in the Ming Dynasty.There are at least seven printed versions in the Song Dynasty and one in the Yuan Dynasty,among which the version of twelve volumes in the Song Dynasty is rich in content and still exists today.There are no less than 30 versions in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,which belong to the three systems that are Lianxi Zhouyuangong Quanji compiled by Zhou Muzhong in Hongzhi reign period of the Ming,Song Lianxi Zhouyuangong Xianshengji compiled by Wang Feng and Cui Weizhi in the 3rd year of Wanli reign period of the Ming,and Lianxi zhi compiled by Xu Conghua and Xie Kuang in the 21st year of Wanli reign period respectively.Most of them are of high documentary value.Very possibly they can help us gain a more accurate understanding of Zhouzis life stories,or sort out the collection process of Zhouzis works and make necessary corrections,or find a large number of new and even unique important materials.
