Abstract: A firm behavioral perspective is chosen to analyze the internal cause for the scarcity of technological innovation investment in renewable energy industry. A conceptual model of firm performance comparison of renewable energy industry and dual innovation is established and tested with panel data, which suggests that when current performance is higher than the historical performance or higher than the contemporaneous average performance, the exploration innovation input in the late stage of enterprises and the development innovation input will be subject to various degrees of inhibition. The behavioral theory of the firm can give explanation to the insufficient technological innovation input in renewable energy industry, which may enrich the current theoretical research and guide the practice.
