Buck and Rural Economy and Social Investigationin Pingxiang Hebei in the 1920s

Abstract

Abstract: The rural economy and social investigation in Pingxiang county hosted by Buck is an essential part of Chinese rural investigation. It is completed during the year of 1923-1924 in three villages of Pingxiang county and Xingtai county by Huo Lianzhen, who is a graduate of University of Nanking majoring in agriculture and forestry. This investigation truly reflects the major characteristics of higher population dense, lower living standard, crop planting and agricultural environment. Pingxiang investigation has a higher historical reference value by using Yanshan investigation as a reference.
