Abstract: Since Descartes, there is a clear cognitive-oriented characteristic in early modern philosophy. In the contemporary, the analytic philosophy and linguistic philosophy prevail, and the “linguistic turn” has led the philosophy.Based on Confucian philosophy,Li Zehou believes that humans existence precedes pure cognition, and the living experience is greater than language. On the basis of criticizing the previous philosophy, his “Ontology of Emotion” reverses the tendency, showing a different tendency which we can call it “practical turn”.“Ontology of Emotion” has triplex meanings:in transcendental and empirical dimension, unlike the Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasty and modern Neo-Confucianism,“Ontology of Emotion” advocates the existence experience as the main body, and refuses to make Confucianism transcendental and metaphysical. In the dimension of subjectivity, human being in the theory of “Ontology of Emotion” is concrete and living, rather than the “pure rational agent” advocated by Kant and Heidegger. In the dimension of emotion and reason,“Ontology of Emotion” holds that emotion is fundamental, and reason and emotion are blending, rather than “Cherish Heaven Laws,Deny Human Desires”.These three points highlight the characteristics of Confucian philosophy, which takes “humans material existence—living—life” as the core, attaches importance to survival experience and practice.Li Zehou hopes that “Ontology of Emotion” can make philosophy get out of pure cognition,“get out of language,” and go for practice.
