Research on the Faculty Development Strategy of the Japanese Public Universities

Abstract: Faculty Development(FD)is an essential part of higher education.To improve the quality of talent training,Japanese public universities have adopted a series of strategies to promote the faculty development.First,establishing specialized faculty development institutions to give full play role of both schools and teachers.Second,formulating diverse faculty development programs and individualized faculty development projects.Third,establishing shared faculty development resources by building teacher learning communities and exchange platforms.Fourth,carrying out professional teacher development evaluations through analyzing evaluation data and exchange with peer universities.In-depth research on the strategies of faculty development in Japanese public universities will help improve the faculty development in Chinese universities in the future.
